Heart Of Glass
As well as being the brand’s flagship store in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, 31 Rue Cambon was once the home of Gabrielle Chanel herself. Though she famously never slept there, retiring to her suite at the Ritz each night instead, her apartment sat at the top of the boutique’s mirrored staircase, from where she allegedly viewed her own collections. Already the inspiration for the perfume 31 Rue Cambon from the Les Exclusifs de Chanel collection, the house has now extended this history to its most premium range of lipsticks yet, 31 Le Rouge. The glass case resembles Madame Chanel’s staircase and took four years of development and the skill of a Japanese glassblower to perfect. The 12 shades take inspiration from things dear to Gabrielle Chanel, such as Rouge Coromandel, inspired by the colours of the Chinese Coromandel screens that lined her apartment. Made to stand the test of time, each lipstick is refillable.
Silver Linings
The beauty industry has been abuzz since the Puig-owned fashion and perfume house Rabanne launched its first makeup range. Paying homage to the futuristic and space-age origins of the brand, the collection includes mascara, lipstick, eye quads, liquid eyeshadow, glitter spray, and a metallic multi-use powder, all encased in shiny silver packaging.
Roaming Free
The limited-edition Wild Mustang collection from Chantecaille is inspired by the colours of America’s wild horses, featuring two pink hydrating vegan lipsticks and four eyeshadows in earthy tones. Proceeds from each sale will benefit the American Wild Horse Campaign, which works to protect the animal’s freedom and habitat.
Scented Silk
The newest addition to the Twilly d’Hermès family, Tutti Twilly d’Hermès was created by the brand’s in-house perfumer Christine Nagel. In this fruity floral fragrance, sweet notes of ginger blossom and lychee blend with warm and sensual musk. Like the rest of the Twilly d’Hermès perfumes, the bottle is adorned with a custom silk ribbon.
Science of Skin
Since Melinda Wang’s cult Taiwanese skincare brand, Nomel, launched at Sephora Hong Kong in August, it has been gaining popularity for its results-driven products designed specifically for warmer climates. A bestseller is the antioxidant-rich Sincere Hybrid Boosting Oil, formulated with miracle leaf extract.
