Nissa Cornish

Canadian-born Nissa Cornish can rightfully be called a beacon of sustainability in Hong Kong. Cornish currently holds the post of executive director at Redress, the local non-profit organisation aimed at accelerating the fashion industry’s transition to a circular economy by educating and empowering designers and consumers. Before that, she ran the award-winning sustainable lifestyle magazine Ecozine. Along with fellow Woman of Power Christina Dean, Cornish launched the Redress Clothing Takeback Programme in 2022, which facilitated the collection of 46.2 tonnes of unwanted clothing from 25 partner locations and 178 schools, corporate offices and retail partners. Beyond Redress, Cornish is working on teaming up with local charities to provide the disadvantaged with immediate access to the outdoors, still a luxury not all can afford in Hong Kong. Drawing on years of leadership experience, Cornish believes sympathy goes a long way. “Kindness and compassion matter,” she often says. “You never know what someone might be going through.”
