Victoria Tang-Owen

If you could choose two words to describe Victoria Tang-Owen, they’d be “legacy” and “excellence”. Daughter of the late Sir David Tang, Tang-Owen is at once a fashion force, a philanthropist and an advocate for the conservation of Chinese craftsmanship. After obtaining a BA in graphic design at Central Saint Martins, she worked as a photographer for publications such as Vogue China, GQ China and V Magazine. Later, she became the creative director of Shanghai Tang, the iconoclastic brand founded by her father, where she now serves as the director of arts, culture and heritage. Tang-Owen’s entrepreneurial spirit and passion for artistry led her to launch two businesses: the multi-disciplinary creative agency Thirty30 Creative and the collaborative platform Victoria Tang Studio, the latter echoing her mission to celebrate and preserve Chinese craftsmanship. It’s a vision that guides most of her creative work, be it interior design for Shanghainese restaurant The Merchants or, most notably, her collaboration with Dior’s Kim Jones, in which she oversaw the production of selected pieces that incorporated the techniques of Chinese seed embroidery. Tang-Owen supports numerous charitable initiatives, such as amfAR, the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation and Save Wild Tigers, while also serving as a president of the Hong Kong Down Syndrome Association.
