Angelle Siyang-Le

Angelle Siyang-Le was appointed director of Art Basel Hong Kong in November 2022, a role that puts her in charge of leading the direction and development of the art fair’s flagship Asian event. Before that, after joining the Art Basel team in 2012 at a time when Hong Kong had no world-class museums – she recalls landing here and being told by a taxi driver that the city was a cultural desert – Siyang-Le oversaw its business development in Greater China, as well as the Hong Kong fair’s strategy and gallery relations. Fast-forward to now, Hong Kong has risen to the world stage, thanks partly to Art Basel’s continued growth and partly to the openings of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Tai Kwun, M+ and the Hong Kong Palace Museum. Before returning here, Siyang-Le worked in the Middle East as representative of the private Farook Collection in Dubai. She also managed the non-profit art space Traffic and the artist studio Satellite, and co-founded The Mobile Art Gallery, an initiative aimed at introducing contemporary emerging art to a broader audience.
