Pearl Lam

Gallerist, collector, entrepreneur and patron, Pearl Lam is widely credited with introducing Chinese contemporary art to the global stage after dedicating her career to promoting cultural exchange between East Asia and the world. In 2005, she founded Pearl Lam galleries, which now has spaces in Hong Kong and Shanghai, to represent a mix of international artists as well as showcasing lesser-known talents. Three years later, Lam created the China Art Foundation to spread the country’s culture and tradition globally. A respected authority on Asian art and the global contemporary art market, Lam is regularly called upon to speak at international summits and conferences. She was named one of Asia’s most powerful women by Forbes magazine in 2013 and among the leading 25 women in the art world by Artnet News in 2014. Lam airs her outspoken views in her regular Artnet column Pearls of Wisdom, and this year began her Pearl Lam Podcast with a mission to “inspire, educate and disrupt conventional ways of thinking”, for which she invites a wide range of prominent names to speak. As a self-confessed foodie, she loves nothing more than hosting large dinners and bringing people together.
