Gillian Howard

As Web3 continues to transform the art world, local expert Gillian Howard is at the forefront of advancing creativity and culture through technology in Hong Kong. Born and raised in the city, Howard studied Global Art Business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, and has since gained extensive knowledge in gallery and museum management, as well as consulting art institutions. But it’s her passion for digital art that led her to co-found the Digital Art Fair, which held its second edition at K11 Musea in October. “We brought a lot of international galleries to Hong Kong for the first time after Covid, so it was refreshing for everyone to get together after such a long time,” Howard says about the event. But it’s not just flashy foreign art that excites her: she’s also passionate about putting the spotlight on local artists. “Being able to work on a project with Hong Kong artists that also celebrates our local culture is something that makes me immensely proud,” she says. Bursting with passion, it’s no wonder Howard’s motto is: “If you don’t like it then don’t do it”. She adds: “If you do it, you’d better do it really well or don’t bother at all.”
