Mira Yeh

As vice-chairman of the Hong Kong Ballet’s Board of Governors, socialite Mira Yeh makes an immense contribution to the city’s arts scene. After completing a BA degree in mathematics at Occidental College in Los Angeles and an associate degree in fashion merchandising at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, Yeh quickly became a fixture on the Hong Kong social circuit. And while she’s certainly gained a lot of attention throughout the years for her extensive and expensive wardrobe, there’s a lot more to her than designer labels on the red carpet. Yeh also supports a variety of environmental and educational causes, raising funds for the less fortunate through the Hong Kong Ballet’s many charitable activities. “I’m really interested in developing female-empowerment fund-raising activities and health and wellness programmes for the Hong Kong Ballet,” she says. And while she’s most famous for her involvement in ballet, she prefers to leave the dancing to the professionals. “I may look like I have the figure of a ballerina, but I never learned past grade two in ballet training.”
