Dominica Yang

Dominica Yang is indeed a woman of many talents. While her role as chairman of the board of governors of the Hong Kong Arts Centre already makes her a force to be reckoned with, Yang has also written and published four cookbooks (all to benefit charities), run her own interior design company for 10 years, chaired the Hong Kong Philharmonic Society’s Ladies’ Committee and the Friends of the Art Museum of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and also co-founded the Brain Health Initiative to raise awareness for mental-health and ageing issues. But when all is said and done, it’s her love of cooking that satisfies Yang most after a long day of being a boss lady. “I love cooking,” she says. “It gives me the opportunity to share with people I love and care for, and can be an instrument of love and giving. Whether it’s a lemon tart or a stewed duck slow-cooked for more than three hours, it’s also very therapeutic.” Yang makes sure to put aside time others, and is an avid volunteer for various causes. “The beauty of volunteer work is to try to make it your own, meet amazing individuals and learn from them,” she says. “It’s immensely satisfying to make things happen for others and do something meaningful.”
