Hotly Anticipated Restaurant Openings in Asia this 2024

Air, Singapore

Air, which stands for “awareness, impact, and responsibility,” is the brainchild of the co-founder and CEO of Potato Head Family, and American chef duo Matthew Orlando and Will Goldfarb. Chef Orlando is known for his firm ground in ethical dining and making food waste delicious, as he did at Amass in Copenhagen. Meanwhile, Chef Goldfarb is the founder of Room4Dessert, a dessert-tasting restaurant in Bali. The outcome is a hearty farm-to-table restaurant serving dishes like roselle-glazed duck breast, fermented cassava flatbread, and re-incarnated Chocolate.

Jara by Martin Berasategui, Dubai

The Lana in Dubai is one of the most highly anticipated new hotel openings in 2024. What will come with it is Jara, the first Basque restaurant in Dubai. With the most Michelin stars in Spain, chef Martín Berasategui taps into the Middle East with an eagerness to bring pintxos and cocktails to both the restaurant and the bar.

Maison Boulud, Singapore

No more DB Bistro & Oyster Bar, let’s welcome Maison Boulud instead. Celebrity chef Daniel Boulud is closing down his French casual dining in Marina Bay Sands and opening a new contemporary French restaurant. With some signatures from his former bistro, the two-storey Maison Boulud will serve dishes from his childhood in Lyon like sole meuniere, cote de boeuf, pate en croute, and more.

Studio Frantzen and FZN, Dubai

The Frantzen Group will debut in the Middle East with a restaurant-bar concept and a fine dining restaurant. The former, Studio Frantzen, serves Chef Björn Frantzén’s refined menus infused with Asian produce. It also includes a Nordic-oriented bar amidst a Scandinavian setting. The second project, FZN, is a fine dining venue inspired by Frantzén in Stockholm and Zén in Singapore. Both outlets will sit inside Atlantis, the Palm.

Opening date: Q4, 2024

Above Eleven, Phnom Penh

After establishing itself in Palm Jumeriah in Dubai last year, Soho Hospitality’s Above Eleven is moving on to the next location. The Peruvian-Japanese restaurant and vibrant bar vibes will be transported to the city centre of Phnom Penh, on the rooftop of the new Novotel Phnom Penh.
